World Animal Protection (WAP) commissioned SUPA71 to conduct a mixed-methods study to determine the Thai public’s perception on privately owned zoos and animal shows. The quantitative survey was conducted with more than 800 respondents using the Survey Money Survey Platform. In addition, forty qualitative in-depth interviews were conducted with individuals who visited and did not visit zoos and who attended animal shows in various locations throughout Thailand. The surveys also gathered perception data regarding the welfare of animals, particularly elephants. SUPA71 hopes that our findings will aid WAP in continuing to promote animal welfare campaigns and activities in Thailand and beyond.
